Project Tasting History

In our English class, we did a project called Tasting History. Originally, the dessert was called hasty pudding and was made with wheat flour. However, after the settlers arrived in America, wheat was not always available, so they used cornflour instead, which was commonly used by Native Americans. This is how the dessert became known as Indian pudding. It was traditionally served at Thanksgiving. During the project, we also learned about Native American history and discussed the controversial effects of colonization. While civilization and progress helped develop the country, Native Americans also experienced discrimination and the loss of their land. Despite the complicated history behind it, the dessert was delicious! We really enjoyed baking and tasting the pudding together, and we would definitely recommend trying it yourself.
